A sub caste of the Utkala Brahmins of Orissa, we are responsible for priestly duties at the Jagannath temple in Puri. Some of our common surnames are Acharya, Dikshit (Dixit), Mishra, Sharma, Nath, Choudhury, Sahu, Pani, Panigrahi and Mohapatra.
